Symplified CEO to Present at Invitation Only 2010 Montgomery Technology Conference
Who: Eric Olden, founder and CEO of Symplified, the Cloud Security Company. Mr. Olden is a serial entrepreneur, and an expert on identity and access management. He holds US Patent #6,460,141 for his pioneering designs for Web identity, and co-authored the AuthXML specification, which served as the foundation for the SAML identity federation standard. He is considered one of the founding fathers of federation. Previously, Mr. Olden co-founded Securant Technologies and helped create a new security segment, Web Access Management, which is now a $1B market category. As CTO of Securant, Mr. Olden was instrumental in raising $35M in venture financing and completing the sale of Securant to RSA Security for $140 million in the largest security M&A transaction of 2001. Mr. Olden is also an angel investor and actively involved with several information technology start-ups.
What: With every new cloud application that an organization adds to its IT infrastructure a wider and more difficult to manage security and audit gulf is created. Unlike on-premise software, cloud applications are outside the policy control of IT departments. The traditional 4As – Access Control, Authentication, Administration/Provisioning, and Auditing – can no longer be centrally enforced and managed on assets that reside outside the network firewall. Mr. Olden will discuss the implications and risks associated with the security and audit gap created by cloud applications. He will also present an innovative approach developed by Symplified that enables organizations to centrally manage the 4As on cloud infrastructures regardless of their physical location.
