President & Chief Executive Officer
Shayne Higdon is the President & CEO of Symplified and has served as a board observer since 2009 and as a member of the board of directors since July 2012. Prior to joining Symplified, Shayne was SVP and GM of Quest Software’s User Workspace and Performance Management business units. He previously served as the managing director of Quest’s Corporate Development team where he led mergers & acquisitions, corporate venture investing, corporate strategy and business development.
Prior to joining Quest, Shayne held various lead and management positions at both DataSynapse, Inc. and BMC Software. Currently Shayne serves as a member of the board of directors at JAMF Software, a best-of-breed Mac and iOS management company. He is also an honorary member of Galvanize, a Denver-based organization that creates an ecosystem for entrepreneurship through venture capital, community and curriculum. Shayne holds a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Darren Platt is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Symplified. Before Symplified, he was one of Ping Identity’s first three employees, leading Ping’s technology strategy and its transition into enterprise software. At Ping, Darren was given product, development and team management responsibility for Ping’s conformance services and led the entire lifecycle of Ping’s SOA security product, PingTrust.
Prior to joining Ping in 2002, Darren was Securant’s first vice president of engineering in 1996. There he managed the first three releases of ClearTrust through 2000, and grew the engineering team to 40 people under tight bootstrap budgets in the hyper-competitive dot-com hiring boom. Darren co-authored AuthXML and represented Securant on the standards bodies. With the sale of Securant, Darren managed the transition of ClearTrust into RSA’s product portfolio and continued to represent RSA on the standards bodies.
Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations
Brian Doheny oversees all field and inside sales operations, systems engineering, and sales and channel development at Symplified. He brings nearly 20 years of enterprise software sales management experience to the company. Most recently, Brian was vice president of worldwide sales for the User Workspace Management group at Quest Software, which was acquired by Dell in July 2012. Before that, Brian led sales in the Americas as vice president for LANDesk Software where he helped drive record growth over a multi-year span. Prior to LANDesk, Brian was vice president of sales in the Americas for Altiris, where he was instrumental in growing the company’s channel and field sales strategy prior to Symantec’s acquisition of Altiris in 2007.
Brian has also held various sales and sales leadership roles with Business Engine (now PlanView), Platinum Technology (now CA), and Peregrine Systems. Brian has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Fairfield University.
Vice President of Marketing & Product Management
Brian Czarny is a veteran product management and marketing executive who has helped build and grow several leading cloud security vendors, and spearheaded the go-to-market strategy for one of the industry’s first security as a service providers. As vice president of marketing at Symplified, Brian is responsible for all corporate, brand, and product-related marketing activities and product management.
Brian joined Symplified from Webroot, a leading global provider of security solutions for business, consumer and mobile users. At Webroot he served as vice president of product management and vice president of solutions marketing, playing a key role in Webroot’s successful transition from on-premise security solutions to cloud-based services. Previously, Brian was vice president of marketing for Code Green Networks, a leading provider of data-loss prevention solutions for SMBs. Before that he was vice president of product management and marketing for cloud security pioneer MessageLabs (acquired by Symantec in December 2009).
Brian is a recognized security industry commentator who has been quoted in major business, technology, broadcast, and social media outlets around the world. Brian holds a BA in Journalism from Penn State University.
Vice President of Engineering
Vasanthan (Vasa) Dasan is responsible for building, managing and leading the product development organization at Symplified, as well as overseeing quality assurance and technical operations.
A veteran of driving technical strategy and execution in cloud computing, Vasa joined Symplified from Wayin, a mobile and web engagement platform founded by Scott McNealy. As CTO, Vasa built and led the team that developed Wayin’s services for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, social media applications including Facebook and Twitter, and Java backend services operating on Amazon Web Services.
Vasa spent more than 15 years of his career at Sun Microsystems. He was chief technologist for the company’s Cloud Computing Practice, and he spent more than a decade as Distinguished Engineer for Sun’s $5.1 billion SunService division. He joined Sun as a staff engineer for SunSoft and worked on Solaris Operating System. Before Sun, Vasa held engineering positions at Intergraph and Hewlett Packard.
Vasa holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics, a Master of Arts and a Master of Science from Bowling Green State University, and did his PhD work in Computer Science at Colorado State University. Vasa served as adjunct faculty at Computer Science at University of Colorado at Boulder. Vasa has several publications to his credit including the highly referenced US patent 5,761,662 on personalization of Web, and the Prentice Hall book, Hands-on Intranet. Vasa lives in Boulder, Colorado, and enjoys rugby and cycling.
Vice President of Business Development
Randy Streu is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities with strategic partners and technology providers. Randy brings to Symplified over 15 years of experience driving strategic partnership, sales and product strategy.
Prior to joining Symplified, Randy served as vice president of business development for DynamicOps, the leading cloud automation company, where he was responsible for worldwide indirect OEM and Channel revenues. Randy was instrumental to the growth and leadership of DynamicOps leading to its acquisition by VMware. Previously, Randy served as vice president of product management and strategy for venture-backed startup Configuresoft. He was instrumental in growing the company into a recognized leader in security and compliance management and guiding the company through acquisition and integration into EMC. He has previous experience managing all aspects of product delivery, sales, marketing, and strategic relationships in senior management and technology roles at BMC Software, HP, CA, and various other private and public companies.
Randy is also an advisor and investor in several consumer product and beverage startups. Randy received his bachelor’s in finance and accounting from Texas Tech University.
